CUFE President Wang Yaoqi met with Victoria University President Adam Shoemaker online

On the morning of April 6, CUFE President Wang Yaoqi had a virtual meeting with Professor Adam Shoemaker, Vice-Chancellor and President of Victoria University (VU), Australia.

During the meeting, President Wang reflected on the profound and long-standing friendship between CUFE and VU, congratulated the new leadershipof VU, and expressedappreciation to the previous leadershipofVU.She highlighted the remarkable achievements made by CUFE in the past five years in various aspects, including the strive to build a Double First Class University, academic programs development, teaching, research, and international cooperation and exchange, and reaffirmed CUFE’s commitment to continue to support high-quality international cooperation and exchange. She expressed the wish to work together with President Shoemaker to promote the cooperation and exchange between the two universities to a new level.

President Shoemaker briefed President Wang on the new leadership and administration of VU, and on the current development strategy of VU. Guidedbythe currentstrategy, VU is poised to build a modern educational environment integrating learning, research, and industry,andenhancethequalityof education. VU is about to put into use a new building in downtown Melbourne, which will be used by the VU Business School, world-renowned enterprises such as Cisco, and someagencies of the Victorian Government.Professor Shoemaker spoke highly of the achievements made through the cooperation between the two universities in the past 18 years, and looked forward to richer exchange between students and deeper cooperation in research between teachers of the two universities.

CUFE’s Assistant President Li Tao gave a retrospective account of the 18 years of cooperation between the two universities, summarizedtheachievementsmade by the CUFE-VU joint degree program including in enrollment, teaching, distance education, and institutional building, highlighted the investments andefforts by CUFE, andexpressedhopeforthetwouniversities to continue to work concertedly on the extension of the joint degree program in 2022.

The two sides discussed details regarding future cooperation.
