A textbook entitled Introduction to the Digital Economy was recently published and distributed by the Open University of China Press. It was jointly edited by Shi Yupeng, professor at the School of Economics of the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) and vice director of the China Center for Internet Economy Research (CCIE) affiliated with the university; He Yi, research fellow and vice director of the CCIE; and Zhang Wentao, an associate research fellow at the CCIE. The textbook is another specialized volume in the digital economy field after Digital Microeconomics edited by Shi Yupeng.

Introduction to the Digital Economy consists of 14 chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction, while the remaining chapters are divided into three sections. The Micro Part (Chapters 2-6) introduces digital products, digital technology, data elements, platform enterprises, and the digital transformation of enterprises. The Industry Part (Chapters 7-11) focuses on digital agriculture, smart manufacturing, digital finance, digital trade, and digital culture and tourism. Finally, the Macro Part (Chapters 12-14) discusses the measurement of the digital economy, digital-driven economic growth, and the governance of the digital economy.
In compiling the work, the editors followed the principles of integrating the dissemination of knowledge with the cultivation of competence, theory with practice, scientific rigor with general education, and systematic completeness with key points highlighted. They sought to create a textbook that is academic, practical and readable, aiming to meet the requirements for cultivating interdisciplinary talent in the era of the digital economy.
