The Ministry of Education (MOE) recently announced the approval results for a new round of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. The Master of Data Science in Economics (MDSE) jointly established by the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) and Singapore Management University (SMU), has been officially approved.

The program leverages the expertise of CUFE's School of Economics in digital economy research and talent cultivation, while deeply integrating SMU's international advantages and high-level teaching and research resources in data science and econometrics. It focuses on key areas such as theoretical innovation in the digital economy, data factors and platform economy governance, and industrial digital transformation, aiming to create an integrated talent training system that connects theory, methods, and applications. Oriented toward China's needs for high-quality digital economy development and international economic governance, the program seeks to cultivate high-level, interdisciplinary professionals with strong international competence.

Through close collaboration between the two universities in curriculum co-development, credit recognition, joint training, and research-based learning, students will gain interdisciplinary learning experiences and practical platforms. The program will systematically enhance students' data analysis capabilities and foster a comprehensive competitive edge that combines a global perspective with local practice.

The successful approval of the program marks a new breakthrough for CUFE in the interdisciplinary integration of economics and data science, as well as in the cultivation of internationally oriented, high-level talent. Its implementation will further expand channels for international cooperative education, enhance the university's level of internationalization and global influence, and inject new momentum into CUFE's "Double First-Class" initiative and high-quality growth.
