On November 16th to 18th, 2022, the Confucius Institute co-founded by our university and the University of Pernambuco in Brazil, held the Fifth International Symposium on China- Brazil Economic and Social Development online.

President Wang Yaoqi of the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), consul general Yan Yuqing of the Chinese Consulate General in Recife, president Socorro of Pernambuco University and Igor, director of the Confucius Institute in Brazil, attended the opening ceremony of the symposium and delivered speeches. Ricardo, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Sino-Brazil Economic and Social Development Research Center and a Professor of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), Ademir, Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Research Center, Li Tao, Vice President of the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), and heads of the Scientific Research Department and the International Cooperation Department of CUFE attended the opening ceremony. Nearly 150 teachers and students from Chinese and Brazilian universities participated in this meeting. Scholars from China and Brazil have conducted academic dialogues on how to eradicate poverty in the context of digital economy, contributing wisdom to the economic and social development of northeastern Brazil and promoting the rapid development of digital industry in northeastern Brazil.
