The sixth national model mayor final contest ended in CUFE on 26th November. Launched in April, the contest had lasted for 7 months. There were nearly a hundred teams from different universities participating in the contest, including Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Nankai University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Shandong University£¬Shandong Agricultural University, People¡¯s Public Security University of China, Qingdao University of Science & Technology, Shandong Institute of Business and Technology, Beihang University and Central University of Finance and Economics.
After layers of screening, including presentation before the contest, theme salon, opening report, mid-term defense and final contest, 9 teams from 8 universities stood out at last. The contest was divided into 3 stages: ¡°talents¡¯ first show¡±, ¡°scenario simulation¡± and ¡°mayors¡¯ ultimate PK¡±. ¡°Student mayors¡± had a deep discussion in terms of urban river pollution control, evaluation of social organizations¡¯ incubator parks, humanization transformation of the street space, construction of police force in food and drug industry, improvement of doctor-patient relationship, optimization of ¡°intelligent parking¡± pattern, urban management system reform and poverty alleviation.
In the self-presentation part, each team gave a brief introduction on their research group, research process and achievements. During the scenario simulation, students further analyzed their research topics, drew forth research contents and answered the judges¡¯ questions by their vivid and lively improvisation. In the mayors¡¯ ultimate PK, ¡°mayors¡± from nine teams expressed themselves with eloquent speeches on the question ¡°as a ¡®mayor¡¯, would you decide to bid for the Asian Games based on the tradeoff between fiscal pressure and the wide support from the public?¡±
